Historical Women was March Program

Gilroy AAUW Program at Gilroy Police Department’s Community Room

On the evening of Wednesday, March 18th, the Gilroy AAUW were honored with a presentation on local women in history.

Beth Wyman, long-time local historian and community activist, talked about four local women: Catherine O’Toole Murphy Dunne, Clara Shortridge Foltz, Isola Kennedy, and Gertrude Strong Achilles. Each woman left her mark in the area, all in different ways.

Along with the Gilroy Chapter, members of the Gilroy Historical Society attended.

Beth presented her information in an informal setting, taking questions and hearing comments from attendees. Connie Rogers and other attendees are quite knowledgeable about historical events and people in the area and were able to enrich the presentation.

After the presentation, attendees enjoyed refreshments and fellowship. A big thank you goes out to Charleen Arnberg, Program Chair, who scheduled the program, as well as the Cookie Baking Committee for their contributions.
